Ontario RAT Model 1A OKC 8871 AUS-8 G10 Folding Pocket Knife Black Taiwan (212)

Description

A discontinued variation of Ontario Knife Company's popular RAT folding knife, this RAT Model 1A combines a black-finished AUS-8 stainless-steel blade with textured black G10 handle scales.

Unlike the more common RAT Model 1 versions equipped with molded nylon handles, the Model 1A was factory-equipped with G10 scales. Ontario's period catalogs identify the black-blade configuration as model 8871.

The knife features manual dual-thumb-stud opening, liner-lock construction and a multi-position pocket clip. The blade is factory marked Ontario Knife Co. / Model 1A / AUS-8, with Taiwan marked on the opposite side.

This is a pre-owned example showing evidence of previous carry and use. The photographs show the actual knife being offered.

Condition

I would grade this one Good Pre-Owned Condition, rather than Very Good.

The black-finished blade looks quite good overall but shows evidence of previous use and sharpening along the exposed cutting edge. There are some light cosmetic marks in the blade finish, while the point and overall blade profile appear intact.

The black G10 scales show normal handling and carry wear but appear structurally sound in the supplied photographs. Hardware is present and shows normal cosmetic wear.

The most obvious wear is on the pocket clip, where there is substantial finish loss along the edges and across portions of the clip. There's also visible finish wear on the back/spacer area near the pivot in your spine photograph.

The blade appears reasonably centered when closed.

Please review all photographs carefully for exact cosmetic condition. The knife pictured is the actual knife you will receive.
