A highly collectible early example of the Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Folder from the First Production Run of 1996.

This USA-made Gerber features the iconic folding-knife design developed in collaboration with Colonel Rex Applegate and W.E. Fairbairn. This example is distinguished by the factory blade marking:

“First Production Run 1996”

The opposite side carries the Rex Applegate and W.E. Fairbairn signature markings along with “COMBAT FOLDER.”

This early-production configuration predates later versions equipped with Gerber's secondary safety mechanism. It was designed without a conventional pocket clip and was instead supplied with a dedicated belt sheath.

This example includes its original Gerber Applegate USA sheath, which remains in excellent condition.

Condition

Near Mint / Excellent+ collector condition.

This knife displays exceptionally little evidence of previous carry or use. The blade retains a clean original finish with crisp factory markings and a full edge. The black handle is exceptionally clean, and the hardware shows minimal evidence of handling.

The original Gerber/Applegate sheath is also in excellent condition with clean stitching, hardware and markings.
